I also highly recommend using a high quality surge protector when plugging in your PC. Identical to Virtual DJ only much more stable. I was up and running in FIVE MINUTES.
Thanks to Numark Cue 5, I am now able to significantly reduce the amount of DJ equipment I bring to a gig. And when I play at places that already have a house sound system, all I need is my laptop. Buy the Soundblaster Xfi USB soundcard for $49 or better yet, a Logitech USB headphone adapter for $15. One soundcard allows you to preview (cue) tracks while the other soundcard acts as your master output.
You don't neessarily need an external controller, but if you do, get the Behringer BCD3000. YOU NEED 2 SOUNDCARDS. The special effects are cool and so are some of the features like autoplay, beatmatching and sampling. The reviewer who gave this software a 1-star rating is obviously incompetent and not an experienced DJ.
Never had a problem (knock wood). The program is easy to navigate and operate. By the way, I run a Dell Vostro 1.9 Ghz AMD Duo Core with Windows XP, 250GB hard drive & 2.7 gigs of RAM.
This is the best software i have used so far.I am using it with " Behringer - BCD3000 " and the combo works really good
I just wanna say for anyone who is looking to down size on cds and make your night a whole lot less stressful then numark cue is the answer.I've been DJing for about 10 years and for a long time I thought that cds were the only way to go until I played around with this program. They have a free download on there site numark.com you've got to try it you will be sold on it just like I was to me its the best DJ software out there and I had tryed alot so if you don't want to hall all those heavy cases of music grab this software and let your next event be one to remember
You might have to have a lot of ram on your computer to work the scratch feature better. It does have its cons. Scratching is not as good as I thought but I don't need that in ballroom. This product is good enough for ballroom djing. Support is not that exciting. CUE 5.0 is pretty simple. It has the flexibility of inserting requested songs, you can go on autopilot and dance all night long.Compared to the more expensive softwares which has a more difficult learning curve. If you have common sense your ok.
Highly recommended to any professional; but not for the novice user. The last guy was obviously not a pro, because I have this set up in my club and it is amazing. Probably the bext VJ software on the market, VirtualDJ/Numark CUE blows the socks off of the competition for performance, quality and customizability of the application.
